Join us for a creative all-inclusive 4 day/3 night retreat hosted by Renowned Artist Nick Bultman and Billie Gaura. The workshops take place lakeside on Deer Lake in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. You'll stay in a waterfront cabin and you'll attend workshops and gatherings where we will teach you, pamper you, feed you and encourage some genuine relaxation.

Nestled in the serene beauty of Deer Lake, this retreat is designed to spark your creativity, deepen
your technique, and connect with a community of fellow artists. Over a few immersive days, we’ll
dive into unique acrylic pouring methods, color theory, and exciting new ways to express yourself
through fluid art.

In the evenings, we'll share meals and giggles as we sit by the fire and talk all things art and life.

We’ll begin with a brief discussion about the philosophy behind my work—what inspires it, how I think through each layer, and how my social media content reflects the different stages of my creative process. I’ll then perform a complete velocity painting demonstration, covering my primary techniques while answering questions throughout. We’ll introduce the five-step framework I use to create every painting: Create expressive velocity splashes Photograph the artwork Build a digital world in Procreate Project the design back onto the canvas Finish with airbrush and masking Guided velocity practice Students will experiment with different strikes, movements, and velocity techniques while discovering what feels natural for their mobility, experience level, and creative style.

Students will create gradient backgrounds using the provided 16-inch brush, including: Linear gradients Beam gradients Radial gradients Freestyle gradients Students will then use the techniques from Studio Session One to create the velocity splash artwork that will become their primary project. Throughout the session, we’ll discuss color theory, composition, movement, and design principles. Our goal is to complete all wet work early enough for the paintings to dry overnight. Fans and heaters will help accelerate drying, and prepared backup canvases will be available if needed. At the end of the session, students will photograph their paintings and prepare the images for Procreate.
